Schools need to ensure that first aid is available at all times for people on school premises and off premises during school visits and trips.
Schools also need to provide suitable training for first aiders who might be treating pupils, fellow staff or visitors to the school. First aid treatment might range from dealing with a simple trip or fall to dealing with major life threatening emergencies, so getting proper training is vital.
The Department for Education has a number of resources that are available to assist with first aid for schools in their provision for staff, students and visitors. A helpful document is “Guidance on First Aid for Schools“, which is available for free on the government’s website.
Synergy can provide:
- First Aid at Work Level 3 (FAW)
- Emergency First Aid at Work Level 2 (EFAW)
- 6 Hour Paediatric First Aid
- 12 Hour Paediatric First Aid
- Blended Paediatric First Aid
- First Aid for Teacher Training Days
- Sports First Aid
We can also assist with undertaking a first aid risk assessment by providing a chartered Health and Safety practitioner, who is also a qualified First Aid Instructor. Also, if you have students with additional first aid needs, Synergy can give enhanced training to supplement material on anaphylaxis, epilepsy and asthma, some of which are covered in brief in the courses above.
Our training partner, Protrainings, is also providing a free on-line course for students, which can provide a community level certificate if the skills are practically evaluated; and we are happy to evaluate your students.
